Bảo Thi Nguyễn and Hoàng Nguyễn rehearsing before the concert

VASCAM debut concert is a collaboration with several key members in the Vietnamese American community and non-profit groups in Houston.
To maintain the connection among different generations of Vietnamese Americans, Voices of Two Generations features art-songs by a well-known songwriter and composer Cung Tiến. These songs give younger Vietnamese Americans a sense of our shared culture of Vietnam. The concert also presents them other stories that spike their curiosity and pride as a community member: arias from the grand opera The Tale of Lady Thị Kính by internationally-acclaimed composer P.Q. Phan. The story of Lady Thị Kính is an ancient Vietnamese folktale with universal values of compassion and love. Its contemporary musical language reaches across communities.
